LCS Season Wrap-up, Results

The first annual Lone Star Cyclocross Series wrapped up this weekend with Diablo Del Valle. The course was a punishing one, with a killer section traversing a hill multiple times, a fun romp through the forest, and our first circle of despair.

Thanks to all the riders who came out and raced this year, and their family and friends who came out to cheer them on or hand out waterbottles, albeit with mixed success. Click around the site and check out some of our sponsors, buy yourself a reward for the series if you didn’t an award. Speaking of awards,

Congratulations to our season series winners:

Mens C              Chris Moore
Womens C          Betty Hodges
Mens B               Eric Jordan

We’ll be back next year. Bigger. Better. Slightly older and more world-wise.

LCS #5 Diablo Del Valle

The final chapter of the innaugural Lonestar Cyclocross series will be written this weekend on the fields of Del Valle. It’ll be a fast one, with long straighaways interupted by barriers, a runup, uturns and zig-zags. It’s a good course for beginners, so give your roadie friends a nudge and a wink.

Location,  tasty details.

It’s the last chance to make a run for those season standings and score some sweet swag. Payout is three deep in the open race, and five deep for the season standings.

You know how after every race you just want to do it again the next day? Well now you can; check out the Webberville Cross race put on by Violet Crown on Sunday.  Then a rest day, then Dirt Derby action. It’s cross racing in central Texas. It’s a good thing.

Overall Results Updated and New Video

Check ‘em out and come on out and race this Saturday — it’s the last race in the series which is going to be rocking awesome (I’m psychic that way).

AustinCross Presented by Mellow Johnny’s Results

…are posted!  Thanks to everyone for coming out - we had our biggest B Race field to date, a great course, and great weather. The Vets were excited to have the entertainment and happy to have so many of you support their cause. Travis County Parks once again were extremely accommodating, and the event ran incredibly smoothly with hundreds of other park users sharing the property with us. Congrats to Scott Henry (Trek Volkswagon) for laying the wood on the Open Race, though Keiran Sikdar (Jens Ice Cream) was not far back, and, I’m pretty sure is not leading the season standings. Stephan Rothe rounded out the podium. Eric Jordan (Lone Star Racing) won the Bs (and beat me in the As) followed by Rey “I’m not Joey Machado” Madolora (Ozone) and David Parker (Solar Eclipse). Rob Abell won the 45+, Kyle Rodemacher (Austin Bikes) won Single Speeds, Mark Wiggans (Colonels) won 35+, George Heaggerty won 55+, Jen Joy (Cycle Progression) won 35+ women. In the Beginner race it was Ed Briggs (Bike City) and Betty Hodges (Wooly Mammoth).  Again, thanks a ton, and if you did not pick up one of our awesome long sleeve race shirts, swing by Mellow Johnny’s to get one.

AustinCross presented by Mellow Johnny’s

Pirate Race Productions teams with Mellow Johnny’s to bring another awesome ‘cross race to the heart of Texas. The pavillion pass is back with a twist, a run-up, vollyeball court, barriers, off-camber turns, and passes under an historic truss bridge. It’s everything you’ve always been looking for in a cross race, you just need to pull the trigger and make a date of it.

The LiveStrong Challenge is in Austin this weekend, so it’s a huge weekend for cycling, it’s a huge weekend for cross, it’s the last weekend before daylight savings time switches over, and it’s the last Lonestar Cyclocross race before the election, what other reasons do you need? Oh yeah, awesome weather.

Pre-reg by Wednesday at 7.00, save a 5 dollar bill. Course location, yummy details.

While you’re here, swing on over to the results and check the season standings to see how you stand. Swag for winners in all the categories. Mark the people ahead of you, keep an eye on those below.

Show up Saturday, feel the burn, leave wanting more.

Manor Mayhem results are posted

Thanks to all for coming out and throwing down at what may be regarded as the best cyclocross course in Texas. We will have season standings (and a pithy race report) up in a day or so - don’t forget that we are paying out FIVE deep in the A season standings, and we have custom Italian-made Capoforma season champions jerseys for EVERY class.  See you Saturday at AustinCross Presented by Mellow Johnnys Bike Shop - it promises to be epic!

LCS #3 Manor Mayhem

Get ready for another great weekend of racing as the third race in the Lone Star Cyclocross series invades Manor. The course will feature a run up, the usual mix of tight turns, uphills, downhills, a u-turn on the volleyball court, and a pass by the cheering audience. More prizes this week - Panaracer, Trek, Harlot, Arundel are all bringing out the goods, and the HEED just won’t stop! Beginner races for 15 bucks, 25 for intermediate and advanced and discounted second races.

It’s an open course so spectators can see most of the race unfold. Bring a friend, a spouse, offspring, enemies; this one’s great for spectating. And the weather is looking perfect. Were you outside today? Beautiful, it’s beginning to look a lot like cyclocross season, not that that’s kept us from doing it for over a month and a half now! Just a reminder though, there will be no short track races.

Location, google map, course map, savory details.

Think of it this way: you will wish that you are there if you aren’t.

See you Saturday!

A few notes on the park. There is more than one entrance. Take the first one if coming from the north. Follow the road towards the left, go past ball parks on right, past pool on left. You should see course tape at that point in front of you. Follow road right of course tape downhill to parking.

LCS #2 Results are up

Results are posted for cross.

LCS #2 — Glorious pain for cross and short trackers

Who says Texas doesn’t have runups? Not just one, but two lung-searing, leg burning runups put racers looking for a place to rest, but there was nowhere to hide. Multiple beach passes had racers 5 inches deep in mud, sand and gravel and the long two-way straight-aways let you see your opponents gasping for air. Thanks to those who came out, and if you didn’t make it, we’ll save some pain and serve it up this coming week at Manor.

The short track was twisty and cruel with a long steep climb to keep riders on their toes. The racers were rocking, but the low turnout has forced us to cancel the scheduled short track race at Manor. So come and do cross!

Was it an alien abduction?! (results)

We don’t know for sure, but our crack scientists believe the race results will return to Earth and be posted on Wednesday. Those little green men were last seen using probes on the results computer. Be afraid, very afraid.
